Yes, as explained, this was a regression that allowed to write
invalid files.

Sorry, this is not possible afaict.

Yes, jpeg2000 files allow pcm (iirc) but this has to be implemented,
is not completely trivial and would probably not fix your issue as
these files are again != mp4 (but isom like mp4).
