I fully agree. Documentation that can only be read comfortably online are
really annoying.

On the other hand, we could dump the authoritative documentation into a
wiki, and review the changes made by the crowd: the good changes are ported
to the authoritative documentation, the bad changes are dropped (during the
next dump, probably). If it does not work, just destroy the wiki and no harm
done apart from a little time lost.
